PEER REVIEW

The peer review system involves acknowledged and highly accomplished photographers from all over the world. Each review is conducted in the same way and follows a set criteria and points allocation system. Once every participating reviewer has submitted his/her score the tally is made known to the review group. Whatever score we have determines the grade. If a close-call or margin situation is experienced the review committee may ask for more material to review.

Review committee members do not engage in discussion with one another (most often they don't know one another), and never engage in discussion about their decisions to applicants or anyone. It has happened in the past that the committee chair may relay a word of guidance, or hint on an area where improvement may make a big difference to help future applications.

Annual reviews require only three new entries, of recent work. Annual reviews prove that the applicant's standard is not lower now than when s/he was last affirmed to a level of membership.

Any member, of any rank, may be called on to serve on the peer review committee from time to time.
